Story written by Chris Dalton, Farmville, VA
Saddlesore!!! 1500 miles seems a long distance to travel in 36 hours. It was. On July 19th @ 5am Bob Barnhill, Ray Hinkle, John Hogan and myself left Farmville VA. heading towards St. Louis MO. Depending on distance and time, we did not know how close we would get before turning around. We rode 460 west to 29 north. At Charlottesville we proceeded west on I64. Somewhere around 8pm that evening, we changed our direction to 64 east. We were pumped!
We rode through some beautiful country. We rode through bugs and birds just as the guys did on "Wild Hogs". We had ridden 1000 miles by 12:30 that night. This was enough for one 24 hour time period.
We started back @ 6am on July 20th. Refreshed with three hours of sleep, we were ready to finish the 1500 mile ride. We arrived back in Farmville @ 3:30pm. After fueling one last time, we took time to eat a nice sit down meal and reflect on the experience we had just had. We laughed and talked to our 36 hour end. 1578 miles in 33 1/2 hours. We did it!
Thanks to the guys on the ride and to those of HD of Lynchburg. My VROD was AWESOME!!!!! |
